Gir National Park, a beautiful yet harsh teak dominated habitat in the Junagadh district in Kathiawar, Gujarat, is the last bastion of Asiatic Lion. Gir National Park, one of the most precious biodiversity vaults is anything but lush with a semi-arid wilderness emblazoned by rust, beige and the occasional scarlet.
Little Rann of Kutch
The Rann, derived from Hindi working meaning desert, is a seasonal salt marsh in the Thar Desert that lie covering a massive area of Gujarat, lining the Arabian Sea and extends to Pakistan’s Sindh. Initially, it was overflow river lake where water poured in from the surrounding Rajasthan rivers, but the dried lower reaches formed the present-day pan of throbbing specialized wildlife and amazing spectacles.
